FABULOUS LIVES OF BOLLYWIVES OSCILLATE BETWEEN CRINGE AND CLASSY IN ITS SECOND SEASON

The episodes of this season are definitely more rehearsed than the last time, with the focus on the drama that comes with being the wives of the rich and famous. Interestingly, the season is also filled with big star appearances with considerable screen time like Zoya Akhtar

The second season of Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives opens with the four bollywood best friends – Neelam Kothari, Maheep Kapoor, Seema Khan and Bhavana Pandey – enjoying a wedding party on a yacht off Mumbai and enjoying the good life while they judge the wedding dress of a recently married celeb and bitch about the zero cell phone policy.

The episodes of this season are definitely more rehearsed than the last time, with the focus on the drama that comes with being the wives of the rich and famous. Interestingly, the season is also filled with big star appearances with considerable screen time like Zoya Akhtar etc.

A very big change that comes with this season is that Seema is no more a Khan and her separation with Sohail Khan is also addressed at length. How she is moving on, how she is embracing singlehood, finding strength as a single woman, she discusses this will her buddy Maheep Kapoor. Maheep opens up about how she forgave her husband actor Sanjay Kapoor after an initial indiscretion .

It appears that the show is a platform for Seema to let the viewers see her as an individual and not just as a part of the Khan-daan. Actor, Malaika Arora, an ex-Khan bahu herself, also makes a guest appearance where both of them go bowling with their sons Arhaan and Nirvaan. From getting set-up for a blind date, to suddenly changing style of designing, Seema’s track definitely is the most interesting one in the show.

Bhavana Panday brings a new twist to her storyline this year with renewing her relationship with husband, actor Chunkey Pandey. While both of her daughters Ananya and Rysa make appearances, Bhavana is seen emphasising on Ananya’s hard work and journey in the film industry.

The scenes where she shows off her daughter’s hard work are close to a platform where she is trying to clean up the nepotism tag. Mighty fail.

Maheep continues to be the abusive diva on the show, projecting Sanjay’s attention and forever comparing him to elder brother Anil Kapoor. Her presence feels scripted and rehearsed and not organic. Her constant cussing, outlandish endorsement deals and judgmental quips are all OTT. She forces her viewpoints on others, takes over their agency and just tries to be the controlling person in everyone’s lives.

Neelam looks a lot more focused this season as she is getting back in front of the camera. The entire conversation between her and her handsome husband Samir Soni about on screen intimacy is cute.

The entire menopause episode was weird in them not owning that time in their lives but as the theme in the series is – is shallow and limited to keywords like designer vaginas.

Rich people problems, drama, cuss words and like any other Karan Johar product , they cringeneer another season of South Bombay poor little rich housewives, often oscillating between decusty and swav.
