Mrs. Undercover, which was supposed to be a spy-thriller, is instead a spy-comedy. When we saw the trailer, it appealed to us and looked like a promising film. However, the movie has a good plot, but the execution seems bleak.
As astounding as it sounds, the blunt truth is thrown on our faces. It has a bunch of talented and influential actors like Radhika Apte, Sumeet Vyas, Rajesh Sharma, Angana Roy, and Laboni Sarkar. The plot revolves around an undercover agent, Durga, who manages her roles as a Housewife and an Undercover agent.
After ten years, she was called to investigate a case of a psycho murderer who has been on a murder spree. He is named as a common Man who is known to murder women who aspire to be successful in their lives. He particularly targets women who idealize women empowerment.

The film has a compelling element of women empowerment in the perfect play. It keeps reminding you of the strength a woman has. No woman is ordinary, and she has the power within her. It challenges the core mentality of a housewife being mundane. Durga is a Housewife whose husband never respects her. He keeps tormenting her to be just inside the house and underestimates her skills. The question here lies in the fact that why is any woman ordinary? Why does she have to deal with being called nothing but just a housewife every day? She looks after the family, feeds the children, and cooks, yet she never gets the dignity and respect for that. The movie constantly keeps repeating this and gets too stretched when overdone.
The film’s first half develops a strong character for Durga and showcases her strength. When we reach the middle of it, the thriller element is replaced by comedy. The film lacks the grip and consistency of being a good spy-thiller. Sumeet Vyas has essayed his role of a Common man beautifully. He has the potential to make you hate the character.
Radhika Apte as Durga is brilliant in essaying the roles of a housewife and an undercover. Talking about the plot, Durga returns to the special police force to catch the common man red-handed. She delivered a powerful performance and some really enthralling action sequences throughout the film. It has an impressive background score and music. Anushree Mehta directs it, and Abir Sengupta, Varun Bajaj, Ishan Saksena, and Sunil Shah have produced the movie.
We wish the movie had a more substantial plot, better execution, and a promising storyline than this. It is available on Zee5 and Zee5 USA. However, it is a one-time watch.
