During the ongoing San Diego Comic-Con, the highly anticipated Indian sci-fi epic, previously known as “Project K,” has finally been revealed as “Kalki 2898 AD,” accompanied by an exciting teaser.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, known for “Mahanati,” and produced by C. Aswani Dutt’s Vyjayanthi Movies, the film boasts a star-studded cast, including Indian A-listers Prabhas from S.S. Rajamouli’s “Baahubali” franchise and Deepika Padukone, who recently starred in the blockbuster “Pathaan.” Amitabh Bachchan, renowned for his roles in 2022 hits “Uunchai” and “Brahmastra Part One: Shiva,” joins the lineup along with Kamal Haasan, both starring in and producing the hit film “Vikram” in 2022 and currently working on “Indian 2.” The ensemble is further enriched by Disha Patani, last seen in “Ek Villain Returns” (2022).

In Hindu mythology, Kalki represents the 10th and final incarnation of the god Vishnu, destined to appear during the Kali Yuga, humanity’s darkest era, to bring about its end. The “Kalki 2898 AD” teaser boldly proclaims that when darkness envelops the world, a new force will emerge, undoubtedly led by Prabhas.

Though the film’s budget remains undisclosed, it is believed to be around $75 million, making it one of the most expensive Indian productions ever.

Joining the project as its international marketing and distribution partner is Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media, known for its involvement in various exciting ventures showcased at San Diego Comic-Con.

“Kalki 2898 AD” is set to hit theaters worldwide on January 12, 2024, releasing in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and English.
