CAST: Kay Kay Menon, Vinay Pathak, Divya Dutta and Meher Vij
DIRECTED BY: Neeraj Pandey
What do you get when you put KK Menon on the driving seat as the quintessential Himmat Singh? A very palatable viewing experience. Characterizing a RAW analyst, nearing retirement, who is presumably comfortable circumventing the annals of the red tape and bureaucracy in the Government Organization, with demeanor, we wish we had in the face of adversity, while delivering results.
The action, the momentum of the narrative and the visuals are a great accompaniment.
While two auditors question Singh about his various expenses, Himmat Singh explains his operations and his team of operatives in Dubai, Baku, Istanbul and Tehran. The action sequences are very intricately shot and choreographed, the photography is vivid and compliments the story aptly.
The other characters are well woven with their depth of roles in Himmat Singh’s operation and given ample screen time. A tale that begins with the 2001 attacks by terrorists on the Indian Parliament House till 11 years later when Himmat Singh completes his mission. Each episode of the series is a peel off on his strategy and the execution of the effort. A very well written screenplay by Neeraj Panday, Deepak Kingrani and Benazir Ali Fida.
KK Menon is the the pillar of the series and carries it with great finesse. Karen Tacker looks good and adds depth of the narrative in his own passionate way.
Other actors are fillers. Vinay Pathak, Divya Dutta and Meher Vij all are relegated to filling the space they are given to fill.
On the whole, a bingable experience. Go watch !
