PM Selfie Wali is a comedy web series from Ekta Kapoor’s house of production about a young 25 year old girl called Tanya Thakur who is from the UK but has an American accent for some reason.
She is supposed to be the grand daughter of the incumbent Prime Minister of India, who plans to appoint the English girl with the American accent as the PM ( how that logic works constitutionally, we don’t know YET, but we think you got the plot).
The whole evil plan is for young Tanya to fail so that the older lady ends up looking solid and better for the electorate to vote her back in.
There are some seriously comic scenes in the mix and you do end up giving in to laughter, even though the plot is shallow. For some reason, you also get a vibe that the cast indeed had a great time shooting for the show, the chemistry shows and the fun reflects through even the most badly written scenes.
The cast is definitely easy on the eye. Nityaami Shirke looks convincingly legally blonde even with that American accent. Beena Banerjee and Ramakant Dayama fill the shoes appropriately. Paras Zutshi as the gay friend of Tanya has a sliver of a role to play as does Anjali Sivaraman as the girl friend.
One actor who does indeed stand out in the entire series is Pranay Pachauri. He fits the profile of a young political rival, Sachin Ghatge, quite suitably and it doesn’t hurt that he looks so hot. He is definitely on our radar now.
If not for the sporadic giggles of the 7 episodes, watch it for the hot guy.
