CAST: Rajeev Khandelwal, Divyanka Tripathi, Priyanshu Chatterjee
DIRECTED BY: Pradeep Sarkar
What we have to confess is that Ekta Kapoor is a master story generator. The ability to lucidly express the story in a cinematic medium is the job of the writers, directors, and actors. Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, who is the maker of films like Parineeta, Laaga Chunri Mein .Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala, the expectations are high. The show has a high profile cast of Rajeev Khandelwal, Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Barkha Bisht, Navneet Nishan, and Manini Mishra.
The plot of the series weaves around an estranged couple who have a child together but differences between them, stemming from the husband’s infidelity, leave them bitter towards each other.
Business brings them back together when the restaurant that she works with, is acquired by her ex-husband, played by Rajeev Khandelwal, and Nitya, the character, played by Divyanka Tripathi, is forced to work with her ex for three months.
The characters are well developed, and the chemistry between Rajeev Khandelwal and Divyanka Tripathi seems quite realistic, gripping the audience’s attention appropriately.
The casting is appropriate, and the writing authentic in the portrayal of relationships new and estranged. The evolution of the characters from being the simple young people in small-town India to the sophisticated creatures of an upwardly mobile society is quite strikingly depicted.
On the whole, a watchable show with great all-round performances by all actors. Good to see Priyanshu Chatterjee in an exciting role of Nitya’s neighbor and unofficial shrink.
