THE BLUF– The movie is a slickier, smoother remake of the original Amitabh Bachchan classic DON.
THE MEAT AND THE POTATOES
DON is the drug mafia boss who looks after the day to day operations of the drug trade. An Interpol officer Dsilva wants to crack this and capture DON. Come the second half and we have Vijay a look-alike of DON who plays his character and does all the dealings. The Police are confused and there are this cat and mouse chase happening in the latter half of the movie.
IN THE ZONE– Shah Rukh Khan is witty, suave, sleek, and stylish. He is super cool in this meaty role. Kareena Kapoor looks dazzling inher glamavatar and has really pulled off the famous song; ‘YEH MERA DIL’ wonderfully.
Priyanka Chopra gives an adequate performance. Boman Irani who plays Dsilva is in top form with his Interpol character. Arjun Rampal is sexy. Isha Koppikar and Om Puri are wasted and could have been given a lengthier role.
FWAR
The movie starts off well with good locations, however somewhere in the second half gets a bit slow. The ending is very interesting with a twist. The songs are composed by Shankar-Ehsan-Loy and are very good with great picturization. Overall the movie is very stylish with great suspense and good locales.
WHAT WE LOVED– Shah Rukh Khan in hiscool, sexy, Don attitude. Shankar-Ehsan-Loy’s music especially recreating the remake of the old hit numbers with good beats.
WHAT WE MISSED– A faster second half.
