NEVER KISS YOUR BEST FRIEND SEASON 2

CAST: Nakuul Mehta, Karan Wahi, Anya Singh, Sarah Jane Dias, Niki Aneja Walia, Javed Jafferi, Rituraj, Deepti Bhatnagar

DIRECTED BY Harsh Dedhia

Sumer and Tanie and best friends who fall in love and then fall out in Season 1. In Season 2, they are in London and meet again.

Tanie now works with a production house owned by Lavanya ( Sara Jane Dias) In comes Sumer as the Director for their new show that Tanie is writing. They fight , they disagree and claw at each other in this really sweet rom-com.

Directed by Harsh Dedhia, Never Kiss Your Best Friend 2 is written by Sumrit, Shahi, Durjoy Datta and Mishka Shekhawat. Now if you know Durjoy Datta, he wrote the romance of the hugely popular television show Kuch Rang Pyar Ke aise bhi. You also know one thing when you see the name Durjoy Datta – the writing will be good. And it was.

The strength of NKYBF is the characters, the moments, and the chemistry between them.Nakuul was great in Season 1 of Never Kiss and he knows his character well. He does well with Sumer in Season 2 as well, yet there is a little hesitation in chemistry between his character and Tanie that does not work authentic.

He is better in his chemistry with Sara Jane Dias though. In fact, Sarah Jane Dias – Nakuul Mehta’s scenes have the right amount of tenderness and that fits in with their chemistry.

Karan Wahi as Karan takes your breath away. I mean why is he is not in more movies, shows, web series? We want to see him plastered everywhere. Seriously. He is charming, good looking and fills the screen with his oozing good looks in a way that you want to rewind him on loop.

His chemistry with Anya’s confused Tanie is passionate and oh so romantic. The angst scenes are pheno when he tells her that he is not interested in being a part of her triangle. The entire scene of their confrontation and the writing is so good that it is heartbreaking for one of them to realize that the other does not have any unique reason to love the other while the other one has a hundred to why. Karan aces it but Anya can’t really match his acting expertise.

Anya Singh is cute, effervescent but there are patches where she cannot match the emotional expertise of the more experienced actors around her. The language, the situations, the plot is contemporary and none of the illogical. If you have always wished for a romcom for our generation, watch this one. The nostalgia of Javed Jaffrey romancing Deepti Bhatnagar is exhilarating and entertaining at the same time. Why don’t they get us more of Javed as well? The scenes between Deepti Bhatnagar talking about her dating life to her son Karan are really cool.

Nikki Walia as Tanie’s Punjabi interfering mom is good but doesn’t have much to do. On the whole, a very bingable Season 2. Please give us more Karan Wahi though. We are begging.
