Sanjana tries to make herself at home in the Dixit house. She collects more information from Neha about Dev and Sonakshi’s relationship, beaks Sonakshi’s mangalsutra, and tries to tell Suhana a story about two dolls in the dollhouse she gifts her – Sonakshi and Ana.

Even when Sonakshi is doubtful about her intention, she is not able to clearly catch the drift.

It is further revealed that Sanjana is unhinged crazy as she watches Dev and Sonakshi through Dev’s laptop’s spycam that she had installed.

The smart Dev Dixit who is a software pro, who caught the business rivals trying to steal his products, now is a victim of a rookie psychopath’s spycam.

What happened to the Dev we knew and admired ?

As Brian Cox says, “ The writer is the Thing.”

It is now revealed that Sanjana is not even the brilliant talent that she projected herself to be. Apparently, the designs based on which she got the job with IShwari Enterprises were also stolen from another designer.

Dev brings her home and that black shadow on the family picture was ominous enough for us to realize that the drama will now unfold.

She meets Sohana and spends time getting to know the family insider information.

Elena keeps telling Sonakshi to be careful of Sanjana’s intentions about Dev. They all keep Sanjana’s moves on Dev hidden from the rest of the family.

Sanjana comes to know that Sonakshi had pushed Dev away from her when her mom had passed away.

The plot continues and Sanjana’s presence builds from irritating to just squirm-worthy.

She begs for a second chance and Dev ( NOT SO DEV-LIKE – remember the way he did not give his own brother another chance) gives it to her. She slides in a tracking software into his laptop ( amazing access she has to his cabin with no one in sight) so she can see his face while he works.

Now with all of that, the psycho continues to hog max screen time. Dev explains to his family that having the psycho around would be imperative because she can go legal against the family for Suhana’s custody.

Sonakshi and Dev do not tell the rest of the fam about Sanjana’s obsession with Dev.

EPISODE 64: FEMME FATALE

The plot seems to be following a hollywood movie archetype of a femme fatale. We know that variety well.

We are talking about characters that are provocative, devious, scheming, lights out smart, and probably stone cold murderers who’ll happily serve you dead.

She’s the successful career woman (makes them seem powerful) who takes an obsessive interest in a male colleague, or the survivor of some inequity, hell-bent on retaliation for the crimes against her (real or imagined).

This woman is skilled at using her sexuality to lure in her victims and does not get why someone may not be charmed by her beauty.

She will get what she wants even if it means it kills everyone around her including herself. She’s the black widow of film noir and one of the greatest figures in pop culture, from its earliest beginnings to the present day.

Femme fatales hold a certain spell onscreen. They captivate us with their valiance, and normally there is almost certainly an element of enchanting beauty to reel us into whatever scheme or plot they’re hatching.

There is always something especially compelling when a woman goes from “dangerous” to straight up psychotic—when her actions move beyond reasonable vengeance and into pure madness.

Not here. The character of Sanjana built upon such an archetype fails to compel us to see her side of the story. The character is shallow in its development. The language, the character development is not well presented.

A psychotic character developed here is not only patchy, but almost an unconvincing psychotic role.

Psychopathic people show a lack of emotion, speak only in terms of cause-and-effect when describing their crimes or actions, and focus their attention on basic needs, such as food, drink and money and love. Here the character is emotional and has a conscience. Remember she wanted to give Dev his note back.

In any case, this character is very out of character. Cringeful and extremely harmful to the fan affinity to the show. Please fix

A tarot card reader tells Sanjana that she is the villain of her own love story as she falls for the wrong guys. She can get the right guy but there is a person between her and that guy. Sanjana takes it as a sign that she needs to get Sonakshi out of the way.

Why Dev has not fired her so far is a mystery and why Dev’s office is so accessible to her with no assistants or office staff manning his availability is again a plot up in the air.

Sonakshi teaches her children to be careful of talking to strangers.But they have met Sanjana so why she doesn’t mention that specifically is lost on us. Get ready for a kidnap sequence, we guess.

Sanjana apologizes to Dev and Dev decides to almost give her a second chance. Sonakshi enters before that happens.

In the precap, Sanjana is in Dev and Sonakshi’s bedroom again where she breaks Sonakshi’s mangalsutra. Wow. What access she has.

With fans and fan clubs cringing about the current Sanjana track, the loyal supports of #Devakshi just want this done.

Many fans of the show for years of its earlier seasons cite that the makers and the writer is ruining the essence of what they felt for this series.

A fan @pharmacon_nepenthe went to the extent of stating that if the channel did not have a credible story for the 3rd season or an efficient writer to depict the scenes, they should not have come back with Season 3. Just depending upon the skills o the actors and the previous fame of the show is not enough for the audience.

More voices are rising up to call out the makers and the writers. @anoushka.ishwar feels that the Sanjana character has ruined the entire show. @khagen.das.391 says that the masterpiece was now ruined and there was no difference anymore between Ekta Kapoor’s #KasautiZindagiKi and #Krpkab3.

@saji5143 says that she is so sad to see the decline of the show. @ahanasidd1234 says that the originality of the show is ruined.

We have sent the fan feedback to the Channel. Let us hope they do something about it.

Meanwhile in today’s story; Sanjana goes full psycho. Sonakshi berates her and tells Sanjana to stay within her limits as her family is not up for games and she knows how to protect them.

Sanjana burns a Devakshi picture and promises herself that she will take away from Sonakshi her husband and kids.

Why these two women are fighting over other people as if those people have no mind of their own and are inanimate objects with ownership rights escapes us.

But it is ultra normal for Hindi serials to depict people as objects that can be owned, traded, sold, and exchanged. Don’t believe us?

Sadly we didn’t expect this in a classy series like this one.

Sonakshi and Dev romance and assure each other that they have kinda dealt with the menace that Sanjana is.

Ayush’s grandfather visits the Dixit’s to confirm that Sanjana was indeed the sister of Suhana’s other Meena.

Ishwari is grateful for Sonakshi and cooks up some hummus and pita to show her appreciation. Though not very evident, this gesture still makes Neha jealous.

Ishwari almost faints on hearing about the reality of Sanjana. It is only Neha who has a different view. She feels that they could be unfair to Suhana by separating her from her only living relative from her mother’s side.

Ofcourse, Ishwari and Neha are not aware of Sanjana’s intentions with respect to Dev.

Dev ignores Sanjana’s calls until she gets a message to meet Dev at his office.

The scary part is that the reason Sanjana wants to meet Dev is not for the sake of Suhana but to get close to him through Suhana.

Sanjana is shocked to see Sonakshi in Dev’s seat instead especially when she is sure that he is there to reciprocate her love and feelings.

The new writer is hell-bent upon proving that true love between Dev and Sonakshi can conquer all adversities. Quite unlike the story so far, the current track borders upon cringy. Not only the presence of a psychotic third angle of unrequited obsession but also the way this entire track has been executed leaves us diluted of the essence of Dev and Sonakshi that we are here for in the first place. How will this track end, we are pretty sure. But when is the more pertinent question.

Dev and Sonakshi handle Neha’s emotions well and make her feel understood. Ishwari realizes what gold she has in her life with Sonakshi, who has always kept the family together. Dev tells Sonakshi everything about Sanjana. After the initial shock, she thinks of options to fight Sanjana back on her claims. As legally if Ayush’s grandparents have not exerted rights, could she?

Meanwhile, Sanjana reaches out to Ayush’s grandfather to gather evidence of her claims about Suhana. In the precap, Sonakshi shocks Sanjana by telling her to get out of their lives and that she will never allow Sanjana near Suhana.

Meanwhile, Ranvir comes to meet the family. If we remember correctly, Neha has moved on from Ranvir and married someone else. But, nevertheless, the new writer switched the guy.

Ranvir reveals that Neha is angry about taking care of his sick mother and not being able to afford help and a bigger house. This shocks the entire family and irritates Neha.

The penny finally drops for Dev. He understands that Sanjana is in love with him and tells her off. Obviously selfish and emotionally unaware Sanjana does not get the folly of her confession.

Dev is furious at her and is able to stitch episodes together that lead to his understanding of the issue.

Why he did not have a more furious outburst, we did not fathom. This is not the Dev Dixit we know.

Meanwhile, Sonakshi thinks of matching Sanjana with Jatin romantically. She sees the relationship between her and Saurabh’s wife and wishes that she and Neha were that close too.

Sanjana realizes that Sohana is her sister’s daughter.

In the precap, as Dev meets with Sanjana to give her the transfer letter, she reveals to Dev her relationship with Sohana. Sonakshi tells Dev that she thinks Sajana and Jatin may be a good match.

Both Dev and Sonakshi think that Sanjana’s love admission is her performance for the game that the family was playing before she decided to leave and laugh it off. They do later talk of it as weird and unsettling but then think that it is perhaps because of her heartbreak that she was behaving the way she was.

Sanjana misreads Dev’s reaction too and thinks that Dev had fallen for her and was laughing because he likes her. In her psychosis, she is unable to see the situation for what it is. Her emotional intelligence is so low that she does not seem to see what is obvious and is not reading the obvious signs that she is intruding in other people’s lives. She is also unable to comprehend appropriate versus inappropriate behavior.

As Dev reaches the office the next morning, she has lined the entrance with rose petals and a bouquet of red roses, and a note awaits him on his desk as Sanjana tells him that she loves him.

Especially when she perceives the dynamics in the family, she understands that Neha is a pickle and has an underlying jealous streak towards Sonakshi. She plays on Neha’s emotions to get close to her. She also plays Ishwari by praising her oily, unhealthy cooking. Shubh retrieves Rohit Verma’s picture so Ayush is not able to see it at all. The family plays their version of truth and dare and Sanjana is envious when she sees Sonakshi and Dev dance. As Dev follows Sonakshi to the kitchen to romance her, Sanjana watches them from outside and tries to interrupt their moment.

Sanjana grows more obsessive after meeting Dev’s family and Shubh.

Ishwari likes Sanjana because she conforms to her standards of a conformist. She eats her oily food, knows where to buy the holiest ingredients for her fast or how to get Ishwari emotional about her family.

Whether a relationship develops could depend on the level of similarity the two individuals share from the beginning of their meeting. When you try to create a social world where you’re comfortable, where you succeed, where you have people you can trust and with whom you can cooperate to meet your goals, the similarity is very useful, and people are attracted to it most of the time.

Ishwari sends a halwa to Sanjana at the office and Sajana pushes her emotional agenda as well in front of Dev to which he is sympathetic.

Sanjana is waiting for a letter which is to be delivered to her by courier. Seems like a plot pivot.

Bijoy and Jatin spend time playing chess and Jatin lets out the fact that Sonakshi and Dev went for therapy together. He calls Ishwari and they both share a loving conversation about their children. Sonakshi teaches Ishwari how to order groceries using her speech app on the phone.

Dev and Sonakshi spend quality time with each other and the kids. The scene where Sonakshi tries to groom his nails is the cutest. They hear Sanjana call in the local radio and speak about her one sided love towards a married man. Dev comments how heartless the woman was not thinking about the man and his family and kids.

I am sure most of us have had or still have a one-sided love for a person, who knows nothing about it!

This love is completely unconditional and selfless. We know the person and their traits, and we love everything about them, without any doubts about the fact that they may never feel the same for us! But, deep down, we still hope that someday they’ll reciprocate equally.

When we see a person as PERFECT, we see all those things that we would want in our ideal partner to have! There is nothing wrong in feeling like this, what is wrong is when you try walking into their lives without their permission. To levitate without having the right to mess up their existing relationship.

That is the problem with the character of Sanjana.

She snoops into Dev’s wallet, his appointment diary, Sonakshi’s office schedules, their bedroom, their personal effects.

All with no guilt or shame. As if she was entitled to a person without his consent.

In the precap, everyone is listening to a radio show when Sanjana calls in and tells the RJ that she is in love with a married man. Sonakshi and Dev hear that and feel that they have heard that voice before.

Sonakshi ends up drunk when she picks up Vicky’s vodka to drink instead of her orange juice.

Why people order a breakfast drink like OG at parties escapes us.

In any case, the writer needs to be more creative since this scene of someone drinking a hard drink thinking that it soda is becoming a stupid template. A significantly intelligent person always figures out that the taste of soda is not the taste of vodka. Many years into Russian vodka traveling into people’s bars- it is not such a novel drink to decipher.

In any case, the story of Sanjana is becoming weirder especially when she plans stuff to entrap Dev and his attention and Dev- the business tycoon seems not to figure out good attention from bad.

Very smart, Who made him CEO? Not buying his IQ.

Sonakshi being drunk is cute but Dev’s attention to one employee over thousands that he has is making no specific logical sense.

Awright…… hopefully more logic will return to the plot after the weekend. Please. Someone.

Sanjana is almost glad that Sonakshi may not come to the party. And you might think that the psycho in her head would step back looking at Dev and Sonakshi together, but she does not. She had designed the games for the party with the sole intent of spending more time with Dev right in front of Sonakshi’s eyes. She challenges and pokes Sonakshi to show Sonakshi how interested she is in Dev. And Sonakshi is affected.

She tells Elena that the vibe she is getting from Sanjana is not normal

Jatin helps Sonakshi confirm Sanjana’s intentions but is not able to unearth much. Sonakshi drinks a vodka mixer inadvertently and gets high.

After the closure of a big deal, the staff at Dev’s office suggest that a party to celebrate be organized. Sanjana takes the responsibility of organizing the 90’s Bollywood-themed party. Dev brings home the costume as a gift for Sonakshi. Ishwari takes care of the kids while Dev and Sonakshi go to the party.

Sanjana digs herself deeper into her psycho state by misinterpreting every word, every action that Dev makes. Ironically she dresses herself up in that very character from a Bollywood movie who revels in one-sided love.

But this is not love, this is obsessive stalking and slowly creeping towards fatal attraction. She tries to spoil Sonakshi’s dress by deliberately pushing her while Sonakshi is holding a drink. As Sonakshi enters the party, Dev’s eyes are only for her. Dev invites Jatin and thanks him for supporting Sonakshi and Sohana when they were separated for seven years. Sanjana who overhears this takes that as a sign of encouragement.

Sonakshi is sensitive to the fact that she cannot let anyone else come in between her and Dev.

Sanjana continues her crazy.

She sprays on her body Dev’s cologne and tells her friend that destiny has put Dev in her path and it will take her to his life. She does not really care if he is happily married.

This may be getting beyond psycho.

She calls Dev for help at night when he is busy with Sonakshi watching a movie. Sonakshi manages to send Vicky to help instead.

Instead, she calls Dev and prepones a meeting at work so she gets his attention.

A deal is closed and Sanjana unnecessarily holds on longer to the handshake with Dev that even Dev gets sus.

Sonakshi’s head is filled with worrying thoughts and Elena is adding to her doubts by continuously telling her about Sanjana and the trust Dev is showing in her by nanding over the critical company projects.

Dev is barely aware of Sanjana or interested in her to even warrant her any attention.

Sonakshi meets Sanjana and acts possessive and clingy in front of her to claim her territory. Dev is clueless.

Sanjana is clearly becoming psychologically unstable in her one sided obsession for Dev. So much so that the fact that she meets Sonakshi and recognizes the love between Dev and her does not even deter her one bit in her pursuit of Dev.

Some deviations in character development, Elena is completely not the sister who had evolved into being a close ally of Dev and Sona both. That bit is completely beduffling so in normal circumstances, Elena would approach Dev bhai and ask him what was going on before jumping to conclusions or even placing those doubts in Sonakshi’s head.

Similarly, Sonakshi is logical and calm. The woman who fought with crooks to save Ishwari and wouldn’t tell Dev anything so she could be sure about things before she told him lest he reacted. This is not that sonakshi. This one doubts before checking, comes to conclusions without having ample proof and is not the same logical, level headed girl.

A thought. On one hand, the story is portraying the world as it is today, inundated with choices over the internet, the influencer economy and people living off social media. Elena’s stalker knows everything about her and literally lives on the internet.

On the other hand, Dev’s stalker and psycho obsessive fat linda- Sanjana , could’ve used the internet easily to find out who Dev Dixit was, his profile and family status- because remember how Dev went on TV to launch his product and thanked his wife and daughter in the last season. Why has she not done that yet?

In any case, the obsessive mode has settled in. She doesn’t care if Dev is married and totally in love with his wife, as she found out from the office goss.

She is hell bent upon being in his life imagining that there is space in his for her.

Dev and Sona get super romantic. That chemistry is unbelievable.

Sanjana calls Dev and when Sonakshi asks who she is, she brazenly replies in a tude tone that Sonakshi should know what her husband has saved her name in his phone as.

Dev thanks Sanjana for her idea of gifting a memory by giving her a flower from her own office vase. It turns out that the flower was a red rose.

Sanjana is getting bolder. She walks into Dev’s office to have lunch with him with the intention of getting closer to him.

Dev makes amends with Sonakshi and with his father-in-law. These family scenes of people from different subcultures are really well drawn out in KRPKAB.

Sanjana, on the other hand, continues to carry her character arc into the obsessive category as she walks into Dev’s office and uses his cologne.

Sonakshi and Dev are appropriately interrupted in their romance by Ishwari as usual and the audience is wringing their hands in impatience. When will Ishwari learn to respect their space?

The relationship between Ayush and Sohana has evolved into one of love and trust.

Sanjana disturbs Dev without any reason to get his attention and makes Dev work during the time he was spending with his wife and kids, even when there was no need for him to do that work so urgently.

Dev and Sonakshi continue to work on their relationship.

Ishwari, aided by GKB is edged to think that Dev may be undergoing trauma at the therapist’s place, even after her brother allays her fears.

Sonakshi finally lets Dev know that his absence when she needed him to support her during the passing away of her mother, has hurt her so much that she is not able to get over it.

Dev is shocked to realize the reason for her distress and tells her that he had no inkling about it. Sonakshi makes a point about Dev expecting her to love, respect and accommodate his mother while not reciprocating the same feelings towards her parents.

Ishwari and GKB visit the therapist and tell her that Dev is not to be blamed in the #Devakshi issues. The therapist assures Ishwari that there was no such blame game and she needs to let her son and daughter-in-law solve their issues.

Dev tries reaching out to Sonakshi at work to explain to her but she remains incommunicado. He invites her for coffee at their favorite cafe and when he is on his way to her he gets a call from Sanjana who has been arrested for driving without a license and papers of the car belonging to Ishwari Enterprises. He tries calling Sonakshi but she misplaces her phone on the coffee tray which was picked up by the host at the cafe.

Dev likes the fact that Sonakshi is possessive about him and teases her while also explaining to her who that woman was.

Sanjana grows more interested in Dev and decides to find out more about his personal life including the woman who she believes is his girlfriend.

Ishwari and GKB try to figure out in a display of product placement using their Amazon echo who the doctor that Devakshi was visiting was. They figured out that it was a therapist. In their limited knowledge of such therapy, they decide that all this was a ploy for Sonakshi to get alimony from Dev. In any case, they poke their nose into Dev and Sonakshi’s life again without asking their permission or keeping the sanctity of the space of a married couple.

Sonakshi is bothered by Elena’s tarot prediction and keeps reliving their conversation in her mind. When a clueless Dev returns, Sonakshi tries asking him about his day only to be interrupted by Ishwari. At dinner, Dev prevents Sona from eating at the table and later plans a surprise dinner for her in the backyard. He reminds her that the therapist had asked them to behave as if they were courting each other.

Sanjana walks into Dev’s office for a meeting and realizes who Dev actually is. Dev likes her work.

Irrespective of this, in a conversation with her friend, Sanjana tells her about her attraction towards Dev. Her friend warns her to be careful as she knows he is already in a relationship which he is trying to work on (having read the letter he wrote to Sonakshi with the flowers she mistakenly picked).

Ishwari gets sus about Sonakshi and Dev’s relationship when she sees a calendar notification for a Doc called Navya Anand on Sonakshi’s phone. For someone who was uneducated and couldn’t read English till last season, this character arc seems to have leaped a mile.

The characters of this show are suddenly showing gaps in their character development.

Kuch Rang is a story where a lot of the story’s emotional impact is conveyed through the character’s arc.

The inner journey or transformation of a character over the course of a story. Very simply, a character may start out as one sort of person and gradually transform into a different sort of person as they experience the events of the plot. In that way, plot and character arc should go hand-in-hand.

For the character of Dev, the character’s starting point: an attitude or behavior that is getting in the way of the character’s happiness, even if he doesn’t see it that way, and the present state of this character: what shift in attitude or behavior the character could experience that would allow her to be happier, even a little bit.

Throughout the season, Dev is shown as distant, busy and even when his priorities are his business, kids, mother, and wife -in that order; he is not the person who will interact or spend time with a stranger, he has just met, in a cafe watching a cricket match. The sudden wrapping up of the Ayush track with Ishwari converting herself into a soft-hearted shipper rather than the antagonist she was shown as is another example of a weak character arc.

Yes, characters change but no character growth can happen in an instance. Dev is not the guy who is super friendly towards strangers. His three-dimensional personality is what made him relatable. Have Dev and Sonakshi been ‘realistic’? They may have had real emotions, but you wouldn’t ever expect to run into these people in real life. And that’s what has made them great characters. Many protagonists fall into the “unlikely hero” trope and as such typically progress from clueless, cowardly, passive, characteristics to strong, courageous, and, even heroic. There are always elements of hurdles, a whole host of opposing, external forces that appear almost impossible to overcome presented between these two states of the protagonist. This is done so that the character is forced to evolve. The challenge for the new writer is to continue the character arc of these layered characters that fans have adored for many years and make their growth interesting rather than shocking their sensibilities with sudden shifts in the character. In television characters that are appealing and disappointing all at once overall prove compelling to watch. But growth and the struggle happens on both an internal and an external level. In the character of Dev, there is a huge internal growth disconnect. Exploring both internal and external facets of both Dev and Sonakshi’s journey would give their growth more weight and resonance. This disconnect needs to be fixed asap.

Narcissist mothers lack empathy and the ability to nurture their children. They don’t see their children as individuals but as extensions of themselves. Ishwari neglects the feelings and needs of Dev and criticizes his choices while imposing her own choices upon him. Narcissist mothers feel entitled and insist on getting their way.

Ishwari exacts compliance through control, manipulation, guilt, and shame. It’s always “their way or the highway,” and if you don’t oblige, they punish you with attacks, coldness, or withholding. Insecurity drives their insatiable, unrealistic needs for high regard and admiration. Because they lack boundaries, they project—they shame and blame others for their own emotional discomfort, even when they put themselves through it due to their own actions.

As the family spends time together, the other lady tries to track Dev by visiting the florist.

Dev and Sonakshi spend more time together and rekindle their relationship.

Bijoy, on probably the request of Ayush, brings a meat dish to the Dixit household. As GKB stumbles upon the dish, she creates a scene in the house.

It seems that the first counseling session with the therapist helped Dev and Sonakshi understand what they mean for each other.

As the therapist appropriately puts it; the job of a therapist is to remind a couple of the reasons why they decided to be with each other in the first place.

The show has a new writer: Harneet Singh. We hope that does not change the composition of the characters; we are hoping that it does not; as fans of these very complex characters that we have seen evolved since Season one , it will be a pitza. The scene with Ayush suddenly calling Sonakshi “Ma” was out of sync with Ayush’s progression of relationships with both Dev and Ayush. Even Suhana has no usual response.

It looked rushed and overhasty in an attempt to close the Ayush track and start the third woman angle. Almost precipitous.

Dev is at the florist buying roses for his wife and hand writes a note to her apologizing for his insensitivity when his bouquet gets lifted by another customer as the careless florist lets that happen.That other customer reads the letter and assumes that the person writing the letter must have written it for his girlfriend. Intrigued at the fact that someone still writes love notes in this age of emails, she takes a fancy towards Dev.

Ayush’s issues with bullying were solved by Dev ingeniously by getting the bullies into trouble so they do not repeat their behavior. Dev asks the principal of the school to invite the other parents of the kids who were bullying Ayush over so their behavior could be amplified to their own parents.

The confidence that Ayush has in Dev standing up for him compels him to accept Dev as his father. Finally, Ayush calls him Dad.

It is only at lunchtime when Dev opens his salad box, he gets a handwritten note from his wife asking him to come with her for a counseling session with a therapist.

Sonakshi feels that if their relationship has hit a rocky patch, confronting the issues now could transform their marriage — and save it from destruction in the future.

Not only will this be a safe environment for being honest with each other, but using a combination of impartial reasoning and experience, counselors can provide the right advice designed to improve relationships.

As the counseling starts, the counselor asks both of them to be honest about their feelings.

The act of parenting inevitably involves making choices that influence the life of your child.

Passive parents allow their children to make their own decisions and communicate an attitude of indifference.

Over-controlling, so-called “helicopter” parents attempt to shape their children’s lives in the manner they deem most appropriate.

Some parents who see the extent of their control over their child diminishing as he or she matures, turn to emotional manipulation in an effort to regain their previously held influence. Just like Ishwari does.

Manipulative parents like Ishwari have several tools in their arsenal to control their children. The first and most lethal of all is “Personal Attacks”

For instance, Dev coming back late from work is confronted by Ishwari.

Ishwari instead of asking him how he is feeling first lays out how worried she was and that’s why she up. It is about her all the way. To her credit, she is rightfully worried about her son being out late, but she quickly settles the blame on his wife. Every decision that Dev takes, she loses no time in blaming his wife for his actions. Persistently. And also her reactions. Do you know how much I worry about you? I can’t believe how careless you are. It makes me so worried, you’re going to make me lose my mind and my sleep!”

She does, perhaps unknowingly, exert psychological influence on Dev by blaming her own feelings on him and his wife. The problem here isn’t that Ishwari is fabricating these feelings (they are very real after all), the issue is that Ishwari is using her feelings in an attempt to regain psychological control of Dev and the decisions of his life. This type of manipulation meta-communicates that personal emotions are fair game in a family confrontation.

Then why is she surprised when Dev or Sonakshi behave out of place with her: “I couldn’t help it, you pissed me off so much that I left the house. Of course, I stormed off without touching your feet! What else was I supposed to do?!”

Ishwari also persistently invalidates the feelings of Sonakshi, Dev, and Ayush.

Feeling invalidation is an insidious relational manipulation tactic prevalent in all sorts of close relationships. Sonakshi feels invalidated because Ishwari interrupts her, believes she is a better mother than her, cuts her off in front of her own children, and goes over and above to prove how useless of a person she is, Ishwari also acts like she knows what Sonakshi is thinking or feeling, and tries to change how she feels about things, without respecting her space or individuality.

It is human nature to believe our own feelings are over and above those of others.

Ishwari has done the same with Dev since he was a child. So much so that Dev does not know any other way of a relationship.

And Ishwari is doing the same with Ayush. She tries to finish his sentences, interrupts him, feeds him food she herself likes without asking or caring about his own likes and dislikes, acts like she knows what Ayush child is thinking or feeling, and tries to change how he feels about things.

There is a litany of reasons why the character of Ishwari shows such a sense of desperation and shame. Psychologically such people behave in a manipulative manner because of several reasons, primarily being sensitivity to hurt and disapproval of negative emotion. Hurt people hurt people. Emotionally abused children are more likely to be emotionally abusive parents.

What is Ishwari’s back story? Will the writers of #KuchRangPyarKeAiseBhi explore that angle too?

Ayush deals with more bullying at school. The tension between Dev and Sonakshi is affecting Shubh as well. Dev continues to remain aloof from Sonakshi.

Ayush gets bullied at his new school and Sohana is of no help. He does not tell his parents about it because he does not want to push them into another argument.

Ishwari is highly manipulative with Dev by being selective in telling him about her actions and motivations.

Dev worships his mother and therefore it becomes difficult for him to understand any one else’s narrative about the events that occur in his life.

Sonakshi is lucky that the people who she trusts implicitly like her father and her friend Jatin are not diabolical in their advice or motivations towards her life.

For now, her father, however judgmental and her friend Jatin, however mellow, just want her relationship with Dev to work.

But Dev’s mother, even in her best intentions, creates the hindrances in their lives that makes them see eye to eye with each other. She assumes that everything wrong happening in her son’s life is a reaction to Sonakshi’s actions.

The couple are tormented by their difference of opinion.

Ayush goes to Sohana’s school where he is not at ease because of language issues. Sohana, under duress to prove her loyalty to Golu ignores him and leaves him to his own devices.

In her agony, she leaves her family behind. The character graph of Sonakshi is so consistent. The girl who wouldn’t acknowledge her love for her estranged husband because of a promise she made to her father, had lost out all her self-esteem to a promise she made to her son.

Ishwari, desperately trying to find Dev in Ayush emotionally manipulates Ayush overcome his antagonism of her by telling him about Dev losing his father as a kid. Ayush is as emotional as Dev is and just a pure soul.

Ayush is so traumatized by the act that he refuses to take gifts and offerings from Ishwari.

Ishwari calls Dev to tell him about what she had done. Dev is heartbroken but apart from a feeble protest, he does not say anything else to his mother. He meets with Sonakshi to tell her what his mother had done. Sonakshi is appalled and asks Dev to confront his mother. Dev tells her that he is afraid that if they do that, Ayush will start disliking his mother.

Sonakshi blames Dev for not taking a stand from his wife or his son. She feels betrayed by him. More than that, she feels she failed as a mother to protect Ayush. She doesn’t know how she will face him as she was not able to keep her promise of protecting her own son.

She refuses to go home with Dev and walks away in a traumatized state.

Over this season, we see a brand new Erica and a very chic Sonakshi. It is about her au courant style and a switch over to a more assertive, confident personality.

That persona comes forward in this episode as Sonakshi steps up to protect her son. Beyond Sonakshi’s basic understanding of Ayush’s psyche, she also has a more profound psychological apperception of his fears and insecurities.

As she speaks to Ishwari and asserts her rights as Ayush’s mother, she becomes her son’s protector. She tells Ishwari that no one has the right to change her son’s name without her and her husband’s permission.

Ishwari has a shallow understanding of the anxiety that Ayush faces or the fears that Sohana hasm she continues to practice her overwhelmingly suffocating love for Ayush.

She normally demonstrates it by feeding him things he does not like or hug him, whether he appreciates it or not.

She even bulldozes her way into his matters, whether she is entitled to it or not.

Dev and Sonakshi revive romantic moments as they dance with Ayush and Suhana before getting interrupted by work calls or by people knocking on their bedroom door.

Suhana helps Ayush connect with his ( and her) grandparents as they video call them using her tab. Mami asserts that the grandparents of Ayush may be trying to get Sohana closer to themselves, although they were telling Ayush to get closer to his family and obey everyone.

Dev remains a silent spectator to his mother’s shenanigans.

It is Dev’s uncle, however, who realizes how out of place Ishwari is and counsels Ishwari about her behavior.

Ayush on the other hand, is a warm sensitive child. Dev is right in identifying with the emotions of Ayush, yet at a very rudimentary level, Ayush is as calm and thoughtful as Sonakshi.And he is as much a meatatarian as she is.Ayush and Sonakshi somehow get each other, even when none of them show each other how much. Though shocked at that initial reaction from Sonakshi, Dev later understands where Sonakshi’s concern was stemming from. The fundamental change in the attitude of Ishwari towards Sohana was triggering Sohana in more ways than one. Dev understood that trigger finally.

Ishwari kept her high octane interference a recurring feature in her son’s life while her son tries to deflect her from their issues by allaying her fears.

Sonakshi bonds with Ayush over breakfast but forgets to get cheese for his sandwich when she sees that Suhana had forgotten her lunch box in the kitchen. Her concern for Suhana is so monumental that she forgets that Ayush is waiting to eat at the table.

Dev visits the Vermas with the proposal to adopt Ayush legally and feels guilty when they ask him if Ayush was happy with them.

Ishwari is counseled by her brother to give Sonakhi space and stop judging her motherhood.

Dev gets hurt in an altercation with some people over land that he owns but they wouldn’t evict even after getting compensation to dispossess it.

Every story has many perspectives. So does this situation.

Sonakshi is stuck in denialism. She is facing the reality of Ayush’s arrival but trying to delay it.

Because it will change her reality.

It will change the values upon which our most of her life has relied on.

It will hurt her and make her uncomfortable. She has to focus their mind and thoughts on the short term experiences. But she is judging their long term repercussions, based on assessments that she has no basis of making.

Dev is right in assessing her plight. He knows her well enough to push her towards making her way towards Ayush. Unless she makes that first move, Ayush will never know what a parent is. Ayush has in his memory a good father, which unfortunately for Dev he cannot replace. But for Sonakshi, it will be very easy to be the mother Ayush never had. If only she tried to be.

And irrespective of the fact that Ishwari’s methods are wrong and her constant interference in Dev and Sonakshi’s life is overbearing, she is right when she tells Sonakshi that Sohana will have to start with sharing smaller things before she get used to sharing her parents with Ayush.

Sonakshi involving her father in this issue may further complicate the matter. Her father was never the one who resolved issues for the couple. He was always the one who further complicated them.

Dev defends Sonakshi when Ishwari approaches him asking him to intervene to make Sonakshi appear more involved in Ayush.

Though Dev seemed more understanding of his wife’s state of mind and that of his son then, he tactfully told his mother that being in Sonakshi’s shoes is not easy and asked her to give both the mother and son time to bond and grow into their new relationship. Not just did he defend Sona, but Soha as well. He understands that his child is too young to fathom the situation and respond maturely. It isn’t easy for Soha to accept the fact that her home is now Ayush’s too. Sharing her exclusive attention and love with Ayush will be a difficult process for Suhana and Dev was cognizant of that fact.

Sonakshi, on the other hand, is conflicted between being a mother to Sohana and assuming responsibility for Ayush. She is not sure if Ayush is ready to accept new relationships, overriding those relationships he has already had for the first nine years of his life.

She is reticent in approaching Ayush lest she burdens him with the compulsion of accepting a relationship that he is not yet ready to accept organically. She also wants to give herself the time to grow into being Ayush’s mother spontaneously rather than under provocation or obligation.

Her concern for Sohana is valid, and Ishwari’s indelicate and impulsive actions have inadvertently serious repercussions on any harmonious outcome of Sohana-Ayush relationship. As things continue to be unpleasant between the siblings, further undiplomatic moves by Ishwari not only aggravate the relationship between Sohana and Ayush but also intensify the fissure of communication and resolution between Dev and Sonakshi.

Sohana is not able to reconcile to the fact that another person is important as she is to her family. Her growing insecurity about Ayush’s arrival in her home is a matter that is bothering her to the extent that she has even involved Golu in her plan to isolate Ayush from their games and activities in an attempt to have him leave their home.

Dev, on the other hand, is bothered about the manner in which Sonakshi is dealing with Ayush and Sohana’s dynamics. He feels that Sonakshi is not welcoming Ayush into their lives as she should. He is unable to get Sohana to understand that she does not have a choice but to accept Ayush into her life as a brother. Sonakshi on the other hand knows that the danger of forced relationships in the longer term may lead to toxicity in the familial camaraderie. A reality that Dev and Ishwari are deprived of yet.

Dev’s professional decision making has become bereft of empathy. His heartless order to his staff to render people homeless is a far cry from the Dev we knew.

The plot just keeps getting complicated with each episode of this show. When you feel that the distance between Dev and Sonakshi has increased with time, you see a little sliver of hope that the deep love between them will never let the distance win.

Ishwari’s suffocating love for Ayush comes to its crescendo when Ayush vomits out the food Ishwari is forcing him to eat. Though Sonakshi’s motherly instincts take over for and protect Ayush for a brief period of time, she still approaches Ayush through the veil of guilt towards Sohana. As if showing love and concern towards Ayush will somehow be a breach of promise towards Sohana.

Dev, on the other hand, does not feel shy of showing affection towards Ayush even when Sohana is around. His love for Sohana does not alter his affection towards Ayush even a bit. Perhaps it is the missing umbilical cord that might be the reason for this.

Ishwari’s parenting advice and techniques are primitive and as she keeps breaching the Devakshi space with her unsolicited Indian mom advice, she keeps muddling the waters that are already mossy.

Ayush and Sohana are not getting along. Sohana feels that Ayush is hogging the attention of the family away from her and she is insecure about his presence in her home. She walks into her parents having an argument about Ayush’ s schooling and makes statements about Ayush not being a part of their family much to the horror of her parents who notice Ayush overhearing that conversation as well. Dev loses his cool with Sohana at her impertinence. Ayush gets scared when he hears Dev raise his voice.

In the precap, Dev tells Elena that if a guy is giving a girl attention after so many years of marriage , he definitely cannot be her husband. Later as they are with the older Verma couple, Sohana’s grandfather comments that Sohana’s eyes look like Rohit- her father’s.

Sonakshi is numb. On one hand she sees the fear and pain that Ayush is undergoing being uprooted and in agony. On the other hand, she sees the advent of the upcoming storm in Suhana’s life that no one else seems to heed.

She is mother to two kids in danger. One who was born of her and one who she gave life to.

And she is lifeless and numb.

Unable to articulate her pain to her husband, Sonakshi finds comfort in Jatin and her father and brother.

Dev seems to be unaware of his wife’s emotional turmoil. He finds it unfathomable that she would not be reaching out to Ayush or be there for him while he is adjusting to the new environment, while being impervious to the fact that perhaps it was his wife that needed the same adjustment as well. Was it not her right as well to feel adjusted to the fact that she was a mother to another human being than the one she was mother to just a few hours ago. Dev seemed not to have thought through that angle.

Ayush overhears Gareeb ki beti’s classless remarks about him being an imposter. Dev is disappointed in this discourse and tries to allay Ayush’s fears only to get push back from him as whatever progress their relationship had made seemed to have disappeared to be square one.

Ayush did not consider Dev his father still. Dev would have to start with being friends with Ayush again.

Suhana was not sure why Ayush was still living with them but it seems that Shubh and Ayush teamed up into a friendship already. The Vermas want to meet with their granddaughter Sohana much to Dev’s chagrin.

Both Dev and Sonakshi are alarmed.

Ishwari decided to mother Ayush without his explicit consent as usual again.

In precap she is force feeding him again only to have him vomit the food out. Sonakshi and Dev are having an argument about Ayush’s schooling when Sohana and Ayush both overhear them.

This beautiful story of complicated relationships seems to have just taken a very interesting turn.

Perhaps the most unaware member of the Dixit family to catch the disturbance of balance between Suhana and Ayush. An incongruity that already has started in the way Ishwari is treating Ayush and ignoring Suhana.

Ayush is facing his own demons. The father he had known all his life does not exist any more. For Ayush to accept Ishwari’s dictat, his fear of Ishwari and her suffocating toxic way of showing her affection towards Ayush by forcing him to do things may be too extreme to handle.

Dev and Sonakshi watch the drama unfold as they watch Ishwari’s shortcut methods of patching family members into situations as she pleases without regard for feelings and emotion of any one else.

As Ayush sleeps at night looking for his father, who is no more, he stumbles and breaks a glass vase, waking the whole family up. As Dev helps clean up, sonakshi catches Ishwari shrugging Soha off as she is more concerned about Ayush.

Dev asks Sonakshi why she was frozen when Ayush was scared and wanted her.

Sonakshi goes to the children’s room at night but is hesitant to reach out to Ayush. Is the guilt towards Suhana keeping her from reaching out to Ayush? How will Sonakshi process this new feeling ? How will Dev help her? Will Ishwari complicate this further?

In the precap, Gareeb Ki beti is back and her theories of Ayush’s arrival being motivated by money much to the horror of the rest of the family and the sensibilities of Ayush. The Vermas ask to meet with Suhana.

A very emotionally heavy episode as Dev and Sonakshi try to come to terms with the presence of Ayush in their lives. The more they start the process of reconciling themselves with the truth of their situation, the deeper they sink into the reality of the complications of their situation.

All except Ishwari. In her passive aggressive attitude towards Sonakshi she intrudes into spaces where no mother-in-law should ever be allowed to.

The toxicity of IShwari’s insinuating interference in Dev and Sonakshi’s relationship with each other, their relationship with their children and their priorities is toxic and unhealthy.

There seems to be no boundaries laid out for her insertion into the life of her son.Ishwari tries to convince Sonakshi that perhaps she was missing something in feeling her “first born” while she was pregnant. Perhaps a very painful thing to do for Sonakshi but Ishwari is unrelenting in trying to prove that Sonakshi might have missed something in perceiving Suhana as her child.

Ayush, on the other hand, has his own demons to face, as he prepares to embrace his new life. Dev approaches the situation differently. He loves Suhana more than life but he is not tethered to her like Sonakshi is, having nurtured Suhana as a single parent for many years before Dev re-entered their lives; courtesy Ishwari.

Dev finds chis with Ayush, finding him hiding under the bed, as he would as a kid,scared of leaving the home he had known.

The situation is emotionally overwhelming for Sonakshi. She is trying to strike a balance between her love for Suhanai and trying to figure out how she should approach her estranged son Ayush as they prepare to welcome Ayush. Ayush asks her if he can call her Aunty. She agrees,willing and ready for a slow relationship transition.

Hoping that Ishwari could help do the right thing, both Dev and Sonakshi are surprised to find that Ishwari had no such intent.

The red carpet laid out for Ayush put into jeopardy their relationship with Suhana. And Ishwari was oblivious to the chaos that she was welcoming into the life of her own son with her insensitive actions.

In the precap, Suhana has issues with sharing her room with Ayush as both Dev and Sonakshi try to prepare her to welcome her new brother. Ishwari shrugs Suhana’s hand off her arm as she focuses on Ayush. Sonakshi is shocked to see that.

Ishwari is a cruel mother. Towards anyone else other than her son, she is someone who only serves her own purpose. The purpose of her own limited thinking.

If that were not so, she would have understood Sonakshi’s pain and angst.

Instead her first reaction at realizing that Suhana was switched at birth and may not be the biological child of Dev and Sona was to blame Sonakshi, the comatose mother for her negligence. Then she blamed her parents and then Sonakshi’s motherly instincts.

More than different views on life in general, Sonakshi and Ishwari also seem to be standing at the polar opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of parenting philosophies. Ishwari openly defies Sonakshi’s efforts to discipline her children, jibing her about her work priorities, while Sonakshi tries her best to ignore these regular reproaches.

Dev, the constant silent third party , trying to maintain the peace between the openly sneering mother, who considers herself an authority on her son and in general, the wellness and upbringing of children and families, and does not seem to understand the ambitious daughter in law who is trying to balance both home and children.

Maybe it is Dev’s silence that is the culprit. Maybe it is Sonashi’s silent retreat. But it is definitely Ishwari and her reactions that may be the reason for the rift in the family as they prepare for Ayushman to come home to his real parents. How will Suhana react when she comes to know that Dev and Sona may not be her real parents?

Will they stop Ishwari in time before she damages the very delicate threads of these precious relationships ?

Will Dev and Sonakshi finally be able to define for Ishwari a boundary around their relationship that she may not trample ?

Dev is a thorough man. He would not believe a man even if this was his dying declaration. He flies to Kolkata to confront the nurse who had apparently switched Sonakshi’s newborn with the daughter of the dying man at the hospital and gets a written statement from her.

Shaheer is impeccable as Dev in his emotions a father who seeing his probable son, trying to come to terms with the fact that the little person he is seeing in front of his own eyes, may be his own flesh and blood.

The turmoil that it brings to Sonakshi is immensely devastating. She is not only thinking about what it would do to Suhana to realize that her parents are not who she thinks they are but also how Ayushman would react to the new parents.

How will Sonakshi let her baby Suhana go? The baby she spent so many years being a mother and a father to? How will Dev deal with this new maelstrom in their lives?

Sonakshi spends the night crying and promising herself that she will not let Suhana be separated from herself.

Have to say, Erica’s wardrobe and new look is droolworthy.
