Vidhi Sahani (Yami Gautam) is a crime reporter who is investigating the case of a missing young man, Ishan Bharti (Tushar Pandey). The cops investigating the case seem to be selecting in their investigation. They confiscate Tushar’s laptop and find material that links him to radical groups. As they tag him radical, they also refuse to investigate his girl friend Ankita Chauhan (Pia Bajpayee), who has deliberately been kept out of the investigation and her links with politician Varman (Rahul Khanna). This movie is the story of the reporter’s quest to uncover the truth as she is faced with opposition to keep investigative journalism alive.
The movie is built on the precursor to be inspired by real life events. The opening credits state that 885 people go missing in India every day. Every 2 minutes a person goes missing,
As Vidhi starts investigating the case, she grows deeply invested in it despite pressure from her boyfriend ( Neil Bhoopalam), her parents and people following her. The only person supporting her is her grandfather who not only stands up for as threats come in but boosts her morally to keep going on.

Shantanu Moitra has composed the soundtrack which has songs penned by Swanand Kirkire which make the entire soundtrack quite riveting. Yami Gautam holds her own with Pankaj Kapur’s act holding anchor to her performance really well. As he mentors her way through this case, those dialogue led scenes are very well executed. The sounds, smell of Kolkata is vibrantly presented throughout the frames and keeps the sense of place evident throughout the movie.
Anirrudha Roy Chowdhury ( Pink), keeps a tight grip on the investigative track using his cinematographer Avik Mukhopadhyay very cleverly as the sepia tones make for a tight storytelling.
The details in the movie are carefully woven ( See Ravish Kumar’s book Vidhi’s bedside). The dialogues are crisp and well drafted. Yami perfects her presence.
On the whole a very wholesome, gripping watch.
