EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED AT TUDUM

Netflix is once again hosted its annual livestream event, Tudum, in what is fast becoming a yearly custom to showcase a plethora of its eagerly awaited shows, movies, and games. The entertainment giant has already assured that the lineup will feature some of its most buzzworthy projects, encompassing live-action adaptations such as One Piece, 3 Body Problem, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Additionally, fans can anticipate deeper insights into the forthcoming third season of The Witcher, alongside other blockbuster series like Stranger Things, Bridgerton, and Wednesday.

There’s also likely to be a spotlight on new additions to Netflix’s burgeoning gaming vertical. Stay tuned right here for all the latest unveilings opened with Chris Hemsworth announcing Extraction 3 and ended with a trailer for Gal Gadot’s Heart of Stone, but there was plenty stuffed in between all that. From the first look at the 3 Body Problem from the Game of Thrones showrunners to new glimpses at the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender and One Piece series, see everything that was announced at this year’s TUDUM below.

Extraction 3 Announced

The showcase kicked off with an appearance from Extraction star Chris Hemsworth and director Sam Hargrave, announcing that a third movie in the franchise is on the way. The news comes just days after Extraction 2 hit the streaming service.

Squid Game Season 2 Cast Announcement

We’re still waiting for a full trailer and release date, but in the meantime, Netflix revealed that Season 1 stars Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-Hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo will all be returning for the second installment, joining new cast members Yim Si-Wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-Hoon, and Yang Dong-Geun.

Squid Game: The Challenge Teaser

Netflix showed off a brief first look at the reality show based on its hit 2021 South Korean series. Squid Game: The Challenge will see 456 contestants competing in schoolyard games over 10 episodes for the chance at $4.56 million.

You: A Message From Penn Badgley

You star Penn Badgley appeared via a short video to tease the fifth and final season. “You’re considering what – or most importantly, who – Joe might come up against as he finally returns to New York,” he said in the video. “Though I can’t say who just yet, we all know there are many loose ends from Joe’s past.”

Elite Gets Season 7 Release Date

A steamy teaser – which also included Brazilian pop star Anitta, a new addition to the cast – revealed that Elite Season 7 will debut on Oct. 20. The Spanish teen drama will also see original star Omar Ayuso returning for the seventh season.

 

Bridgerton Season 3 Images

There was no new footage, but Bridgerton did reveal the first images of Bridgerton Season 3, focusing on what’s expected to be the central romance in this season: Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton). As Penelope also happens to be Lady Whistledown (and Eloise now knows about it), that romance is likely to get messy.

Emily in Paris: Season 4 Video

Emily in Paris star Lily Collins revealed that Season 4 will be headed to Rome. “Is Alfie still heartbroken?” Collins teased. “Will Gabriel get his Michelin star? Will Mindy and the band go to Eurovision? Will Sylvie’s rekindled love last? And — the question on all of our minds — will Emily and Gabriel finally get together?”

Lift First Look

Stars Kevin Hart and Gugu Mbatha-Raw introduced the first look at Lift, upcoming action-comedy from Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray. The film, which follows an international heist crew that’s recruited to prevent a terrorist attack and must pull off the heist on a plane mid-flight, releases on Jan. 12, 2024.

Berlin Teaser

New series Berlin, from the world of Money Heist/La casa de papel, got a sleek first trailer. Pedro Alonso reprises his role as the titular character in the series. It’ll find him long before he finds out about his terminal diagnosis, following him as he attempts one of his most extraordinary heists.

Love Is Blind Season 5 Teaser

Netflix showed off a first look at some of the hopeful singles participating in Love Is Blind Season 5, which will debut this September. Will we ever actually learn is love truly is blind? Probably not, but we’ll still get a lot of memes out of it anyway.

A Message From the Cobra Kai Crew

Though Cobra Kai Season 6 is currently on hiatus amid the ongoing writers strike, Netflix did release a sweet video of the cast reuniting, including Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Mariduena, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Dallas Dupree Young, Gianni DeCenzo, Peyton List, Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Jacob Bertrand, and Vanessa Rubio.

The Archies Sizzle Reel

The Archies, an upcoming musical drama set in the 1960s India, showed off a quick glimpse of footage. The series will star Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Yuvraj Menda, Agastya Nanda, and Vedang Raina as characters from Archie Comics.

Heartstopper Clip and Episode Titles

Heartstopper Season 2 revealed its opening scene during Tudum, as well as all of its episode titles: Out, Family, Promise, Challenge, Heat, Truth/Dare, Sorry, and Perfect. It premieres on Aug. 3.

All the Light We Cannot See Featurette

The livestream debuted a new featurette of All the Light We Cannot See, which follows two teens who are thrust against the backdrop of WWII and share a secret connection that will become a beacon of hope in the darkest of times. The limited series is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning Anthony Doerr novel.

Lupin Part 3 Clip

A quick clip gave us a fresh look at Lupin Part 3, its heist series that’s returning on Oct. 3. Omar Sy is back as Assane Diop, a character inspired by the world-famous gentleman thief and master of disguise, Arsène Lupin.

3 Body Problem Teaser and Premiere Month Announcement

We finally got an action-packed teaser for 3 Body Problem, the upcoming sci-fi series from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and The Terror: Infamy showrunner Alexander Woo. Netflix also revealed its premiere month, confirming a January 2024 debut.

Korean Production Sizzle Reel

Netflix has been investing heavily in its Korean productions, showing off a few, including new seasons of D.P. and Sweet Home, in a sizzle reel.

The Witcher: Season 3 New Clip

Just a couple weeks from the debut of The Witcher Season 3 Vol. 1, Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, and Joey Batey released a new clip that shows Ciri single-handedly taking on a group of enemies – that is, of course, until she’s joined by Yennefer and Geralt. A big ol’ sword and magic fight ensures.

Outer Banks Season 4 Video

It can’t be called a teaser, really, but Outer Banks did show off a little sneak peek of its upcoming Season 4, introduced by Chase Stokes.

Avatar: The Last Airbender First Image, Title Reveal, 2024 Release

It may not have been as much as fans were hoping for, as the series is still waiting for a release date and full trailer, but Avatar: The Last Airbender did get a little glimpse during Tudum. Netflix revealed the first character images of its live-action series as well as title reveal footage – water, earth, fire, air and all. It’s coming in 2024.

Wednesday Cast Video

While we wait for Wednesday Season 2, Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, and Hunter Doohan got together to discuss some choice fan theories. Wednesday quickly became a smash hit for Netflix, and it was renewed for Season 2 back in January.

Rebel Moon Featurette

Zack Snyder released a behind-the-scenes look at his upcoming film Rebel Moon. Rebel Moon is being split into two parts (with each getting its own Snyder cut) with the first being released on Dec. 22, 2023; the second is expected to follow soon after, although a release date has not yet been announced.

One Piece Teaser and Release Date

We finally got a highly anticipated look at Netflix’s live-action One Piece series, giving us the first footage of the Straw Hats in action. Netflix also announced a release date: Aug. 31. Cast members Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Mackenyu (Roronoa Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero Gibson (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji) were also on hand for the reveal.

Fubar Season 2 Announced

None other than Netflix’s new Chief Action Officer Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed that his Fubar is returning for a second season. Fubar also got a pretty silly blooper reel.

Linda Hamilton Joins Stranger Things Season 5

Stranger Things hasn’t started filming yet amid the writers’ strike, but that didn’t mean the Netflix hit was absent from Tudum entirely. In fact, in one of the biggest reveals of the event, it was announced that Terminator icon Linda Hamilton will be joining the cast of the fifth and final season.

 

Heart of Stone Trailer

Gal Gadot, Jamie Dornan & Alia Bhatt closed out the show by debuting a new trailer for their upcoming action movie Heart of Stone, which hits Netflix on Aug. 11.
