Filmmaker Divyansh Pandit, whose directorial debut was recently announced, has now locked gaze on the world of music with his new venture, Wild Buffaloes Music.
WBM was more of a calling for me than a calculated business step. I ventured out into short filmmaking 11 years ago with no money in my pocket. It rendered me running pillar to post to hunt my resources and make my films. In fact, I am still repaying the loan for my last short. I know the struggle of finding the right platform. This is where I came up with the thought of setting out on this humble venture of creating a platform where we can collaborate with diverse talents in the world of music and eventually create magic with them,” said Divyansh.
When he was asked if Wild Buffaloes Music will cater to specific genres, he replied, “I don’t want to confine myself to any genre. I mean, magical music can come from any genre, any corner and culture across the globe and I want Wild Buffaloes Music to welcome it all. This kind of diversity will open the doors to way more talent and make our content more consumable for our audience.”
Under his short film production company, Wild Buffaloes Entertainment, Divyansh has produced films like Kashmiriyat, Karta Tu Dharta Tu – A Tribute to Mumbai Police, Hickey, Jihad Hai and many more. Given his love for music, his short films come with a touch of a good song number. For the same, he has worked with legends like Kailash Kher, Sukhwinder Singh, Papon and Shruti Pathak to name a few.
Talking of his team at Wild Buffaloes Entertainment, he expresses his happiness of being surrounded by professional and hobbyist musicians. From his music composer duos to solo singers, he has been interacting with them since years together. Besides, his team consists of members who possess some talent of music but are otherwise designated different roles. For instance, his associate producer, Gaurav Bhan acquired his training from the school of singing legend Suresh Wadkar. His creative designer, Vibhuti Lekha, he says is a born singing talent. When asked about her, he responded with a smirk, “watch out for her”!
Explaining his vision, he said, “There are so many young, aspiring and unrecognised talents out there who have some of their fabulous works lying in their hard disks. While I myself am working towards crafting a name for myself as a filmmaker, I want to venture out on this humble endeavour of reaching out to them in order to create a universe of passion and talent in the long run. Rest, I leave it up to Swami (referring to Shri Sathya Sai Baba) my spiritual master”, said Divyansh.
Currently the casting for Divyansh’s directorial debut Palatwar is underway, being produced by Deepak Mukut and music by the composer-singer duo Ajay-Atul.
