The platform is set to unveil a plethora of new titles across genres and in multiple languages. From heartfelt family entertainers to socially empowering dramas to rib-tickling comedies, the platform brings the ultimate binge fest starring some of the biggest names of South Asian entertainment.
Leading the list is Sooraj R Barjatya’s globally acclaimed, Uunchai. The heartfelt family entertainer starring Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, and Anupam Kher, follows the emotional journey of three friends in their 70s who embark upon an adventurous trek to the Everest Base Camp in order to fulfill the wish of their late friend.
Also enhancing January’s watchlist will be Rakul Preet Singh and Sumeet Vyas starrer direct-to-digital release, Chhatriwali, which drives home the importance of male contraception and safe sex. Directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, the heartfelt movie releasing on 20th January delivers a socially empowering message laden with humour and sensitivity, making it an entertaining watch.
The much-awaited Telugu heist thriller, ATM directed by Harish Shankar is also set to entertain viewers this 20th January. Starring VJ Sunny, Divi Vadtthya and Subbaraju, the series is based on the true story of a unique heist in Hyderabad. The story revolves around four robbers who are roped in by two intellectuals forcing them into executing a multi-crore heist to stay alive.
Introducing multiple new regional titles, ZEE5 Global expands its Punjabi library with Amarjit Saron’s directorial, Babe Bhangra Paunde Ne. The film revolves around three friends who adopt an orphaned old man for his insurance money. The complete family entertainer stars Diljit Dosanjh and Sargun Mehta in pivotal roles.
Adding an element of thrill, the Bengali thriller, Shikarpur, directed by Nirjhar Mitra, stirs mystery and suspense in one pot. The 9-episode series charts the journey of Keshto, who runs a dingy photography studio and aspires to be a detective in his village. Starring Ankush Hazra, Koushik Ganguly, Sandipta Sen, and Debashish Mondol in lead roles, Shikarpur brings an edge-of-the-seat story with outstanding performances.
National Award-winning director Srijit Mukherji’s crime thriller Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke is an ode to the sacrifices and dedication of the officers in uniform. The story follows Regina Cassandra as Kavya, a spontaneous, dedicated, go-getter, who takes on all her missions head-on and will stop at nothing in her fight for the country. The movie will premiere on ZEE5 Global in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
