HOSTAGES SEASON 2: WE CAN’T WAIT MORE SEASONS

review-hostages-season-2

RATING : KICKASS

In Season 2, this story has moved from Doctor Mira’s hostage situation to a plot where the badass ex-cop Prithvi ( Ronit Roy) has taken the Chief Minister Handa ( Dileep Tahil), who for the world is dead, hostage for his bone marrow to save the life of his wife Saba.

Author Nisarg Mehta has methodically woven into this already fascinating story new subplots while introducing three badass strong female characters into the series: Ayesha Khan (Divya Dutta), a hostage negotiator who works for the law enforcement, Shikha (Shweta Basu Prasad), a fraught reporter who is suspicious of wrongdoing in a so-called open-and-shut Imam’s (Avijit Dutt) death case and Isha Andrews (Shibani Dandekar), a corporate big shot tied up in a collusion plot. The sub-layer of male patriarchy these women face while trying to do their jobs is subtly intertwined into the narrative.

Sexy assassin Ranbir (Dino Morea, who is pursuing Prithvi to get to Handa, is the bad boy of the bad boys in Hostages 2.

Sudhir Mishra is the director for this series along with Sachin Mamta Krishn.

This series is based on an Israeli TV show by the same name. The 12-part series has absolutely no tedious moments not only due to the abundant number of plot surprises that keep the momentum going but also the mere presence of two really hot actors ( Ronit and Dino); who keep proving how age is making them as delectable as wine does with time.

The series is engrossing and keeps us hooked in deep engagement while the battle between the cops and the kidnappers continues to enthrall.

The setting of stage over the first 3 episodes of the series only lays the ground for the impetus of action in the rest of the episodes.

As the story picks up momentum, the brilliance of the writing and the sheer intricacy of the plot leads the audience through a rollercoaster ride.

Ronit Bose Roy, looks his sexy, broody best as the retired Superintendent of Police in his portrayal of Prithvi Singh. Saba’s character plays a larger part in bringing the storyline ahead this time.

Dino Morea as Ranbir, a mission-oriented assassin, is a scene stealer with his sexy looks and to-die-for posture.

Divya Dutta is the superstar of the season and outshines most new actors in the plot.

Dalip Tahil, Aashim Gulati, Faezeh Jalali, Amit Sail, Kanwaljit Singh, and Shweta Basu Prasad fit in perfectly into the casting of their characters as this crime saga progresses.

In essence, we loved the show and hopefully will see another gripping season soon.
