Criminal Justice returns for a third installment, this time directed by Rohan Sippy. This series is an Indian adaptation of Criminal Justice a British television drama series produced by the BBC in 2008
The first episode opens with the investigation of popular television child actor Zara Ahuja (Deshna Dugad), who is reported missing by her parents.The 14 year old’s life and career is managed by her stepmom, Avantika (Swastika Mukherjee) and father Neeraj (Purab Kohli).
When Zara’s dead body is recovered by fishermen the following day, all eyewitnesses and clues lead to Avantika’s son with Neeraj and Zara’s 17-year-old stepbrother Mukul (Aaditya Gupta).
Evidence and eye witnesses establish that Mukul met Zara at the party where she was drugged and was also spotted arguing with Zara hours before her death. As the police uncover circumstantial evidence, Mukul is arrested for the murder of his sister.
This review is based on the first two episodes of the ten part series. However, Hulu/ Hotstar have taken the decision to release two episodes every Friday which will make this a running review for the next 4 weeks or so.
Episode 3 of the Criminal Justice season 3 will release on 2nd September 2022.
At the end of episode 2, we get to see that, Avantika has reached Madhav Mishra’s residence for his help in the Murder case of her Daughter, One thing is clear from the beginning that Zara’s brother is not the killer, but all the evidence are against him and now it will be interesting to see how Madhav Mishra gets tackles this case against the public prosecutor Shweta Basu Prasad’s Lekha Agastya.

Criminal Justice 1 was released on April 05, 2019. Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Vishal Furia, the series featured Pankaj Tripathi, Vikrant Massey, Jackie Shroff, Anupriya Goenka and Mita Vashisht in the lead roles. The storyline followed the life of individuals on a gut-wrenching journey through the criminal justice system. In this season, a middle-class cab driver (essayed by Vikrant Massey) had his life turned upside down after being falsely accused of murder.
Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors was released on December 24, 2020. Helmed by Rohan Sippy and Arjun Mukherjee, the legal drama featured Pankaj Tripathi in the role of an advocate who is trying to save Kirti Kulhari. Interestingly, the legal drama marked Kirti’s first collaboration with Pankaj and the duo has clearly nailed their performance. The series also starred Khushboo Atre and Jisshu Sengupta in key roles. In a nutshell, Anuradha Chandra (played by Kriti Kulhari) stabbed her perfect lawyer husband (essayed by Jisshu Sengupta) one fateful night and confessed to her crime. It was thrilling to watch the legal drama.
