Mentalhood chronicles modern motherhood in a very convincing way. Karishma Kapoor does well to portray the character of Meira Sharma, who having moved with her husband Anmol ( Sanjay Suri) from Kanpur, a small town to Mumbai, the epicenter of modern India. These issues remain close to mothers anywhere in the world and the parents of Desi origin will identify with them.

A former Ms Kanpur, Meira is juggling the world of parenting with her 3 kids, the demands of a school system that requires parent involvement at all levels and the future of her marriage.

Season 1, with its 9 episodes, is well written though we believe the characters needed deeper development. Most of the other moms portrayed by the screenplay are not well developed characters, neither is the character of Aakash, played by the handsome single dad, Dino Morea.

The greater story sketch is very interesting, very well written but the emotions of the characters seem shallow because of lack of audience connect since the audience feels for the situation but not the characters. We wish the director had spent time developing the beautiful complexities of the other supporting characters before rushing the narrative.
