CAST: Choi Soo Young , Jeon Hye Jin, Ahn Jae-wook , Park Sung-hoon
DIRECTOR: Lee Min Woo
The series is an adaptation of the webtoon “Namnam,” penned by Jeong Young-rong. It paints the picture of a unique mother-daughter relationship between Kim Eun-mi and Kim Jin-hee. Eun-mi, who became a mother during her high school years, is far from your typical mom; she’s the epitome of cool. Jin-hee, having grown up under the influence of her youthful mother, is now eager to explore the world independently.
The twist in the tale is that Jin-hee, a novice police officer, still shares a home with Eun-mi, a nurse by profession. As they navigate their individual romantic pursuits, they also grapple with maintaining their bond. The series is filled with humor and authenticity, making the mother-daughter pair feel like your mischievous next-door neighbors.
Think of it as a more raw, adult version of Gilmore Girls, but set against a law enforcement backdrop. Besides the plot, the show’s highlights include their vibrant yet tasteful nightwear, Eun-mi’s impeccable skin, and her liberal attitude that even extends to visiting adult novelty stores with her daughter.
Choi Soo Young and Jeon Hye Jin, two of my favorite actresses, are part of the cast. I’d watch anything they’re in, even a silent film. They consistently choose compelling roles. Choi Soo Young, in particular, has a knack for making even a kitchen apron seem like a high-fashion item from Dior. Her effortless style and comfort are truly admirable.
