Hometown Cha Cha Cha goes a lot deeper than just the romance with a large ensemble of characters helping to flesh this show out.
The series tries to emulate Succession or Dynasty but fails in that endeavor because of its sub-plots that take the audience attention away from a focused main plot.
Hush Hush is an interesting drama in the sense that this story is told from end to start. Meaning, at the very beginning we are shown that Ishi dies and the rest of the series is putting the details into this story. While this show is a thriller in nature, there are a lot of things to pick apart in this series
In ancient times, Rajasthan’s village Shilaspura was cursed by a sorcerer, Ridhiyakan, who was deceitfully beheaded there. Legend has it that he is still imprisoned in a mound called Shilasthal, and if anyone disturbs the knoll, the sorcerer will destroy everything in a split second.
In 2001 journalist Dheerenda Singh’s headless and dismembered body was found after going missing for several days. Eventually Raja Kolander (aka Ram Niranjan), the husband of a local politician, was arrested on suspicion of his murder. The subsequent discovery of Kolander’s diary, which listed Singh and names of 14 other people, led to the exhumation of more than a dozen sets of human remains from his pig farm. Investigators also believed that he consumed his victims’ brains.
Morfydd Clark, previously best known for leading the horror Saint Maud, plays a young Galadriel, here a straight-talking Elven warrior – a different proposition to the more ethereal, threatening presence portrayed by Cate Blanchett in Jackson’s movies. Galadriel is ostensibly the series lead, the episodes taking her from hunting down Sauron in a distant land to the Elven kingdom of Lindon, and then beyond that. Her character goes through a minor arc that feels condensed and complete in the premiere, while the follow-up sets her up to be the series driving force behind the series.
The episodes of this season are definitely more rehearsed than the last time, with the focus on the drama that comes with being the wives of the rich and famous. Interestingly, the season is also filled with big star appearances with considerable screen time like Zoya Akhtar
If You Wish upon Me is a classic tear-jerker, though, and, given the palliative care setting where the dying have their last wishes granted – the script is a perfect mix of hope and despair and its protagonists grow on you as you watch them struggle with their own demons in the face of death of people they care for.
At the end of episode 2, we get to see that, Avantika has reached Madhav Mishra’s residence for his help in the Murder case of her Daughter, One thing is clear from the beginning that Zara’s brother is not the killer, but all the evidence are against him and now it will be interesting to see how Madhav Mishra gets tackles this case against the public prosecutor Shweta Basu Prasad’s Lekha Agastya.
