Netflix has dropped a fresh teaser for “The Archies,” a live-action musical that doubles as a coming-of-age story, set against the backdrop of 1960s India, and centered around the youthful denizens of Riverdale.
“The Archies” is a cinematic rendition of the beloved Archie comics, which hold a special place in the hearts of fans across the Indian subcontinent.
Unveiled during Netflix’s Tudum fan extravaganza, the teaser transports the audience to 1964 Riverdale. The locale is introduced through a railway sign labeling it as a “hill station” – a term with colonial roots, used to denote a settlement situated at an altitude higher than the adjacent plains. A quintessential feature of these hill stations is the charming mountain railway services, operating on narrow-gauge tracks and affectionately termed “toy trains” in India. The teaser captures the essence of this era and setting, commencing with a picturesque shot of a quaint train chugging into the Riverdale station.
