BLUF: Ajith Kumar plays the role of Arjun Kumar IPS, a police officer who is a people’s cop. He does not believe in custodial violence or encounters and tries to reform criminals. When a gang of bikers wreak havoc in Chennai, snatching chains and killing people mercilessly, it is upon Arjun’s shoulders to save the city and find the root cause of this menace
This is a Supercop story of Tamil cinema.
THE MEAT AND THE POTATOES
Arjun (Ajith) is a sincere cop with values. He doesn’t see chain snatching as a petty case. The Vizag police commissioner has been waiting for such an officer.
When Arjun presents his theory that the series of chain snatching cases and biking gang activities are linked to a drug syndicate, the commissioner asks him to lead the mission.
He quickly zeroes in on the main person behind this gang (Kartikeya). But the chief of the gang has developed a network that is not easy to break in. The gang is huge with educated, tech savvy youth all over the state becoming vigilante for their own benefit to fight against a society that they see as restrictors. But what happens when Arjun’s own brother Ashu is brainwashed to also be the antagonist.
IN THE KNOW
There is immense clarity in the Director’s vision of the execution of this story. The camera pans, the sophisticated Chennai cityscape on camera the camera pans, the angles and the treatment of the characters is all extremely well-choreographed.
This is an action movie, and the action sequences are the most compelling part of the package.
Dhilip Subburayan excels in his stunt choreography and is supported brilliantly by Nirav Shah’s cinematography.
Huma Qureshi and Kartikeya Gummakonda are cast appropriately. Some of their action shots are just fabulous.
The background score by Yuvan Shankar Raja keeps pace with the narrative.
