THE KDRAMAS TO WATCH IN MARCH : HERE IS OUR LIST

In March, Netflix is set to deliver a unique comedy centered around fried chicken, alongside the highly anticipated comeback of one of the K-drama world’s leading figures in a significant new romantic drama.

1. Wonderful World

Lead cast: Kim Nam-woo, Cha Sun-woo, Kim Kang-woo, Lim Se-mi

In “Wonderful World,” led by Im Nam-woo from “Misty” in the role of Eun Soo-hyun, viewers meet an accomplished psychology professor and author whose life is shattered by the wrongful death of her son. As the perpetrator remains unpunished, Soo-hyun joins forces with others who have experienced similar losses, guiding them in their pursuit of justice.

Cha Eun-woo, from the K-pop group Astro, stars as the enigmatic Kwon Seon-yul. Kim Kang-woo, known for “The Child,” portrays Soo-hyun’s spouse, Kang Soo-ho, and Im Se-mi, recognized from “The Worst of Evil,” plays the role of Soo-hyun’s confidante and ex-manager, Han Yoo-ri. The series premieres on MBC on March 1.

2. Queen of Tears

Lead cast: Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Ji-won

The romantic drama “Queen of Tears” marks March’s most anticipated on-screen couple with Kim Soo-hyun (from “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay”) and Kim Ji-won (from “My Liberation Notes”) portraying spouses navigating a pivotal crisis in their relationship.

Kim Soo-hyun embodies Baek Hyun-woo, a man whose humble beginnings in the countryside lead him to become the most accomplished individual from his hometown, eventually rising to the position of legal director at Queens Group in the metropolis. Kim Ji-won plays Hong Hae-in, the heir to the conglomerate’s founding family.

Their romance starts off as a dream come true, but “Queen of Tears” delves into the unfolding complexities of their marriage post their idyllic nuptials, as they start to encounter challenges. The series is set to air on tvN, starting March 9

 

3. The Midnight Studio

Lead cast: Joo Won, Kwon Na-ra

Following his role in “Stealer: The Treasure Keeper,” Joo Won returns to the screen as Seo Ki-joo, the enigmatic seventh proprietor of a photo studio that caters exclusively to spirits. Alongside him, Kwon Na-ra, known for her role in “Bulgasal: Immortal Souls,” portrays Han Bom, a lawyer with a fervent commitment to justice, whose path shifts dramatically as she becomes Ki-joo’s ally.

The duo is supported at the studio by assistant manager Go, played by Yoo In-soo of “All of Us Are Dead,” and the errand runner Baek Nam-koo, brought to life by Eum Moon-suk from “Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun.” This unique ensemble comes together on ENA, premiering on March 11.

4. Chicken Nugget

Lead cast: Ryu Seung-ryong, Ahn Jae-hong, Kim Yoo-jung

Director Lee Byeong-heon enters the Netflix scene with the eagerly awaited, imaginative comedy “Chicken Nugget,” featuring Ryu Seung-ryong from “Extreme Job.” Ryu stars as Choi Sun-man, a small business owner in the machine-manufacturing sector. Ahn Jae-hong, known from “LTNS,” portrays the intern Go Baek-joong, who harbors feelings for Sun-man’s daughter, Choi Min-a, played by Kim Yoo-jung of “My Demon.”

The plot thickens when Min-a visits her father’s workplace and encounters a mysterious machine. A surprising turn of events occurs when she steps inside it and transforms into a piece of fried chicken. This leads Sun-man and Baek-joong on a frantic quest to restore her human form. The film is set to premiere on Netflix on March 15.

5. Grabbed by the Collar

Lead cast: Kim Ha-neul, Yeon Woo-jin, Jang Seung-jo

In “Grabbed by the Collar,” Kim Ha-neul, known from “Kill Heel,” stars as the acclaimed journalist Seo Jung-won, anchoring a leading current affairs show.

Externally, Jung-won appears to lead an idyllic existence, married to the affluent Seol Woo-jae (played by Jang Seung-jo of “The Good Detective”). However, this illusion is shattered when the dead body of Woo-jae’s mistress is discovered.

The revelation of her husband’s affair is shocking enough, but Jung-won’s situation deteriorates further as she becomes the main suspect in the mistress’s murder. Her sole support comes from detective Kim Tae-heon, portrayed by Yeon Woo-jin from “Daily Dose of Sunshine.” Together, they embark on a quest to unravel the truth. The series is slated for release on KBS2 on March 18.

 

6. The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection

Lead cast: Uhm Ki-joon, Hwang Jung-eum, Lee Joon, Lee Yoo-bi, Shin Eun-kyung, Yoong Jong-hoon

“Resurrection,” the follow-up to the gripping saga “The Escape of the Seven,” comes from the creative geniuses who brought us the acclaimed prime-time melodrama “The Penthouse.” This series interlaces the destinies of seven individuals after a girl’s vanishing act.

Returning from “The Penthouse” are Uhm Ki-joon as Matthew Lee, the brain behind the enigma; Shin Eun-kyung as Cha Ju-ran, the cunning partner of the missing girl’s wealthy grandfather; and Yoong Jong-hoon as the avaricious CEO of a talent agency, Yang Jin-mo.

Joining the cast are Hwang Jung-eum, renowned for “Kill Me, Heal Me”; Lee Joon, known from “The Silent Sea”; and Lee Yoo-bi, celebrated for her role in “Yumi’s Cells.” The series is set to air on SBS on March 23

 

7. Hide

Lead cast: Lee Bo-young, Lee Mu-saeng

Lee Bo-young returns to the screen in the Coupang Play exclusive series “Hide,” portraying Na Moon-young, a woman thrown into turmoil by the sudden vanishing of her husband, Cha Sung-jae, played by Lee Mu-saeng from “Maestra: Strings of Truth.”

In her quest to solve the mystery of Sung-jae’s disappearance, Moon-young’s path intersects with that of her neighbor, Ha Yeon-joo, depicted by Lee Chung-ah of “One Dollar Lawyer,” and the enigmatic Do Jin-woo, played by Lee Min-jae from “Crash Course in Romance,” who appears to possess vital information related to the case.

Directed by Kim Dong-hwi, known for “The Tale of Nokdu,” the series is scheduled to premiere on Coupang Play on March 23.
