CASH IS WELL WRITTEN AND EXECUTED

CAST: Amol Parashar, Swanand Kikire, Kavin Dave, Smriti Kalra, Gulshan Grover,

DIRECTOR: Rishab Seth

BLUF:

Serial start-up entrepreneur Armaan (Amol Parashar) has big dreams but no investors to back them up. And then the economy demonetizes setting up his entrepreneurial brains to innovate in the face of problems to be solved.

THE MEAT AND THE POTATOES:

Armaan thinks up a very innovative way of converting piles of now-worthless notes into legitimate currency for a commission. The money belongs to Armaan’s uncle, a dishonest customs agent Sanjay (Swanand Kirkire). With the help of his very credulous but trustworthy chartered accountant friend Vivek (Kavin Dave), Armaan leaps into money laundering to finance his start-up.

Fellow operator Neha (Smriti Kalra) gets bound into scheming with him too as this hilarious story develops through its course.

IN THE KNOW

Directed by Rishab Seth, based on a story by him, Aarsh Vora and Vishesh Bhatt, and written by Seth and Vora, Cash is a hysterical but smart script.

Rishab Seth manages the script and the performances quite adeptly and keeps the fun going at a good pace. The performances are consistent and good, especially by Amol Parashar, and never let us forget the crazy plot. Rebellious jokes and weird quips about the didactic fascination with scrupulously earned fortune are the general sub-text.

The cast and crew seem to be having fun so they kind of drag the story to some extent when they could have edited the plot substantially.

As a satire, the movie is a success in driving the plot home.

WHAT WE LOVED

The plot was thick

Well written and executed

WHAT WE MISSED

Could have been edited.
