PAURASHPUR : CAN’T FIGURE OUT WHY THEY CAME UP WITH THIS

BLUF: A Soft porn series about a kingdom where women are ill-treated.

THE MEAT AND THE POTATOES

Paurashpur is a kingdom held by Bhadra Pratap (Annu Kapoor). Bhadra Pratap is anold pervert with an obsession for sex and younger women.

Paurashpur is a patriarchal society where women are only seen as sex slaves and anyone not falling in line is publicly executed.

Bhadra Pratap marries young nubile girls who then mysteriously disappear from his palace. This is the story of the malicious practices in the kingdom of perverts and toxic masculinity.

IN THE ZONE

Even with the presence of career actors like Annu Kapoor, Milind Soman, Shilpa Shinde and 3 minutes of Shaheer Sheikh, it seems to be an outright career suicide for them to be cast in a series with no rudder, story or theme of consequence.

Annu Kapoor ends up hamming through most of the scenes which is the most an actor can do in a ludicrous and absurd storyline. Sometimes we felt even Annu was having fun with it and he was totally enjoying the illogical play.

The rest of the actors like Shilpa Shinde, Poulini Das and Shaheer Shaikh, Anantavijay Joshi etc. look clueless. Even Milind Soman’s transgender act falls flat.

Someone needs to tell @altbalaji that good looking people and their bodies can only get social media likes; not accolades.

FWAR

Shachindra Vats directed Paurashpur is supposed to be a very convoluted story of women rights.

The virginity lock, the repulsive dialogues, the entire irrationality of the plot is anything but creative. Infact the purpose of the entire series seems to  border upon being pointlessly abhorrent and titillating.

The series defeats the purpose for which it might have been created.

WHAT WE LOVED

The lavish sets.

WHAT WE MISSED

Story, plot, acting, writing, dialogues every damn thing.
