SID SRIRAM’S “DEAR SAHANA” IS FOOT TAPPING, SOUL SEARING

Singer, songwriter, performer, and Bollywood playback star Sid Sriram has shared a new single entitled “Dear Sahana” out now via Def Jam Recordings.

First previewed in Sriram’s stunning NPR Tiny Desk performance, “Dear Sahana” illuminates his boundless border-breaking style. Sriram’s vocals alternate between soft verses and stunning falsetto on the instantly unforgettable refrain. Its delicate clean guitar and cinematic strings perfectly complement his swooning and dreamy delivery with a promise, “I’ve been thinking about you, girl.”

The single debuted during his NPR Tiny Desk Performance, captivating a broad audience. It gained significant traction on TikTok, accumulating over 782K views and 69.3K likes.

The overwhelming response from fans is evident through the thousands of comments it received. This unique love song has touched the hearts of diverse audiences, reaching women from various cultures and backgrounds across the globe. Its resonance extends beyond the South Asian diaspora, capturing attention worldwide.

It all paves the way for his anxiously awaited forthcoming debut English-language album, SIDHARTH, out July 28.

Sid will also be heading out on a string of tour dates this August supporting Bon Iver, including stops in Wisconsin, Montana, Oregon, Idaho, and Utah.

Sriram was born in Chennai, India but grew up in Fremont, Calif. When he was 3 years old, his family taught him a South Indian classical, primarily devotional discipline called Carnatic music. Later, he discovered jazz, R&B, and soul music.

Those forms of music helped him discover, explore and celebrate the whole spectrum of his identity. While you can hear those musical influences in these songs, what is really striking is the ease with which he molds them all together. Add to the mix his powerful yet warm vocal quality and the ensemble’s effective layering of sounds. “That’s why music, in general, encapsulates this idea that pushes our momentum,” Sriram said. “I wanted to figure out how to bring the spectrum of dynamic and nice [music] and the best way to do it.” Look for his new album, Sidharth, coming this summer.
